Spin- Band of the Year

I just read the article band of the year in Spin magazine. It takes you through the Kings Of Leon 2009 run. They have a lot of funny stuff to say and I highly enjoyed the article. It lets me know they are human.  http://www.spin.com/articles/band-year-kings-leon

High Fidelity

Straying from the beaten Philip Roth path...I recently read High Fidelity by Nick Hornby.
It was one of those books that I always wanted to read but only just got around to doing. It's a quick read of
hilarious fiction about one man's relationship woes and how they intertwine and conflict with his love of music. Hornby does loads of name-dropping
from sixties folk-rock to eighties brit-pop. The movie did lead to a movie version with John Cusack and Jack Black-- someday I'll
get around to watching that, but I have a feeling it won't quite surpass the written word.

Dexter

Do you watch Dexter? The hit television series airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on Showtime. I have to say this season was simply great. It kept me on my toes and had me wanting more each week. I just got done watching the last episode and have to say that, "even though someone ruined it for me," it was very surprising. I highly suggest you find a way to watch the show whether its online, through On Demand, or DVD.  season 1 premier on youtube.

Sonic Fabric

All throughout elementary school they hammered into our brains the importance of reducing,
reusing and (most of all) recycling.
Well Alyce Santoro was one of the few who not only listened, but made the whole concept much
cooler than it sounds. Her line, Sonic Fabric, includes men's and women's apparel woven from "50% recorded audiocassette tape..."
One of her newest projects is a line of mixtape guys' neckties. Even more mind boggling- by running a tape head down the fabric, the music can still be heard.

Can I send in my own high school love mixes in exchange for a tie?

Portnoy's Complaint

Portnoy's Complaint, handed down to me in 2007, started my obsession with Philip Roth. I was never much of a reader through my younger years, and didn't care much to start. I'd say this book is one of the funniest pieces of fiction ever written. I never laughed at a book as much as I laughed during the reading of Portnoy's Complaint. Philip Roth is not afraid to say anything, and you can see that in this book. Please look it up!!! BN.com

Land of the Lost

As a child, my favorite show was Land of the Lost, although I used to call it "Yand of the Yost." (I had a problem pronouncing my L's as a child.) I know it was filmed and aired in the 70s, but I made sure to see the re-runs all through the 90s. I recently got the first three seasons on DVD. I have to say it is pretty terrible. The acting is lame, the graphics are cheap, and it is not even remotely frightening. Nevertheless, I still think it is one of the best fucking shows ever made! Once I sit down and start watching, I have to watch at least 5 episodes in a row or I'm not satisfied.

If anyone enjoys the side effects of LSD or marijuana, I suggest you get this box set and make a day of it. You will not be let down. Trust me. I did not see the new Land of the Lost movie and I really don't care to. One: it looks like a piece of shit; and two: I'm perfectly happy with the original versions of my favorite LOTL episodes. Get the box set...... Amazon

Urban Outfitters

I have to say Urban Outfitters is my favorite place to purchase clothing. I've been shopping there for about two years now and they always seem to have clothing that suits me well. I'm defiantly in a western faze at the moment and they have a great selection of plaid shirts by Salt Valley. I Have about 6 shirts from them now. When it comes to pants I only where Levi's simply because they look great and are the most comfortable jeans/pants I've ever worn. Urban also has great hoodies, jackets, shoes/boots, accessories and also furniture. Good selection of books too. I usually get my clothes online but when I'm in the city I always go to the Urban Outfitters on 17Th and Walnut. if your in Philly check it out. Its worth it.  http://www.urbanoutfitters.com

Jack White!

I have always been a fan of the White Stripes,

at least until Icky Thump, but I recently discovered a couple of other projects that Jack White has been involved in...
He joined Bob Dylan onstage on several occasions...

helped record the soundtrack for Quantum of Solace...

and played in two other bands.  Dead Weather sounds good from what I've heard,

but I just recently got Consolers Of The Lonely by The Raconteurs and I can't stop listening.

I suggest anyone who hasn't heard this yet checks it out.

The Wrestler

I know it's a little late to be blogging about The Wrestler, but I watched it over the past weekend and it reassured me of how great the movie is. The movie is full of, and fills you with hate, love, anger, laughter, and tears. It is truly a wonderful film. A depressing film with it's funny, and serious moments, but still a moving piece of cinema. its stars Mickey Rourke as a washed up old pro wrestler fighting the aftermath of his very successful career. It was nominated for two oscars and if you watch the movie you'll see why.  Check out the Preview

Jersey Shore

I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me and even more will disagree with me when I say the new show on MTV "Jersey Shore" is a disgrace. Why? Why? Why I asked myself as I watched at a friends house "by accident" over the past weekend. I honestly thought it was all a joke and, maybe it is. Are these people putting on an act? Sometimes it felt like it and sometimes I said "maybe these people are really like this. I'm not one to judge per say but I cant help myself on this one. It also hurts to know that a lot of people in the world highly enjoy shows like "Jersey Shore" and, that people do act like that. Does anyone else agree with me here or am I the only one?

Watch for yourself...you will never get this time back, so be warned...

The Minor Prophets

My oldest brother Dave is a writer and professor at Lincoln University.

He teaches creative writing and is a very educated man. He is also a very, very funny man. I want you all to see what he does.

The Minor Prophets is a comedy troupe Dave and three of his friends put together. Dave Amadio, Steve Kuzmick, Gil Damon, and Brian Gillin have been making short films and doing live comedy for years now, and they've really got a knack for it. I want you guys to check them out: you're guaranteed a laugh....

We got a bass player

And what a fine young fellow he is. His name Is Russell Langley from Vineland New Jersey. Rusty has been in many different bands and has the experience we need to finish up the band. His musical taste, opinion, and playing style seem to fill up the cracks and fit in perfectly. Come check us out live, and see what we got. Check out our events tab for up coming shows.

The Fleeting Ends: The Fleeting Ends

Klebe and Davis

My brother Dave and I have a side project called Klebe and Davis that we work on in the summer. We try to write and record one album each summer. We've been working together for two years, thus producing two albums in my attic studio: Sensitive Apartment (2008) and Sugar Of The Moon (2009). Our equipment is weak, our hours are late, our minds are off, but our music is perfect. We write and record together and sometimes separately. We come up with most of the riffs on the spot, while my brother provides lyrics he has written in the past and present. Check us out on Myspace for more info and music. We don't expect anyone to understand. Just listen. http://www.myspace.com/klebeanddavis
