Black Books

There is a really funny British comedy called Black Books.  It's about a cynical, eccentric drunk named Bernard Black who owns an independent book shop, his awkward assistant Manny, and their compulsive friend Fran who works next door.  Bernard generally hates the outside world, and shows little interest in the business he owns.  A lot of the humor comes from his unconventional interactions with customers, the horrendously dirty condition of his apartment (which is attached to the store), and Manny and Fran's attempts to get him to socialize more.  The show doesn't air on any American TV station, but you can catch a few of the episodes on youtube
