Aha Shake Heartbreak

The Kings Of Leon have had a special place in my heart for about two years now. After listening to all of there albums I've come to the conclusion that Aha Shake Heartbreak is my favorite. This doesn't mean I don't like Youth and Young Manhood, Because Of The Times, and Only By The Night. I enjoy all of there music and I'm very glad to see how far they've come. The Kings Of Leon deserve everything they they have. If you haven't listened to them yet i suggest you start soon.  Check it out on youtube.

Should You Be Laughing At This?

You've got to check out this wildly funny book (and website) called Should You Be Laughing at This?  It's a compilation of cartoons depicting offensive, degrading, and hilarious taboos that may alter your moral compass, or at least move the arrow slightly.  The title could not be more appropriate because as you glance through these comics you may ask yourself if you really should be laughing at them. bn.com

Willie Nelson's Autobiography

Willie Nelson. A musician I never thought would hold a place in my musical collection. At this point in my life I see him as a constant inspiration. His personality, music, and now his autobiography have been keeping me busy and inspired. one of my favorite albums of all time is The Red Headed Stranger. A simple masterpiece of great vocals and melody. His autobiography is full of great stories and keeps me laughing. Another piece of art by Willie that enables my respect for him to grow. Check it out!!!  amazon.

The Influences of the Fleeting Ends

Hey Gang
In February we are going to be doing a residency at MilkBoy Coffee in Ardmore.  February 9th is the official digital release of our record, so we are celebrating with 4 shows of influences.  Each night we are going to highlight our favorite decades of music: 60s, 80s. and 00's.  The last show will be an All Request show, and we will be posting the songs here for you to request.

Stay tuned, as we are going to be offering set lists as well as downloads of the music, as well as giving you some historical tidbits on the songs.

nice!

Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs

If there's anyone who knows their sociological shit, it's Chuck
Klosterman.  Journalist and pop culture specialist, Klosterman has
written for the New York Times, The Believer, and the Washington Post.
He's an accomplished writer and presents his material in a very
humorous way.  Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs is by far his most enjoyable book (a
collection of pop culture essays), but his other books- Killing
Yourself to Live, about the connection between rock music, romantic
love and morality, and Eating the Dinosaur should be on your 'to read'
list as well.  Check out Chuck Klosterman on  amazon.

MONSTER BRAINS BLOG! Awesome Creature Art

"a never ending celebration of monsters"

Monster Brains has an amazing collection of creature artwork from all over the place.  They find some of the most bizarre, beautiful illustrations from film posters, books, video games, etc.  If I didn't want to prevent people from easily identifying my body, these would make sweet tattoos.

Breaking Bad

I've got to say, Breaking Bad is one of the best shows on television.
If you're looking for a good show about everyday people trying to make
ends meet by dealing drugs, this beats out Weeds, hands down.  Its
7-episode first season and 13-episode second season were quite
engaging, and a third is up to premiere on March 7, '10.  The show
revolves around high school chem teacher Walter White who is diagnosed
with a terminal lung disease.  When he finds out about his illness, he
turns to synthesizing and selling methamphetamine with a former
student, in an effort to gain financial stability for his family.
This is a show you should not miss. youtube

Perry Bible Fellowship

Check out a collection of comic strips called The Perry Bible
Fellowship (in print or on the web.)  You will never laugh so much at
a comic.  Nicholas Gurewitch created this hilarious collection of
strips that will make you laugh, grimace, and cringe.  His ideas are
original, and he lays down sequences of off-the-wall, incredibly creative shorts
that you would never think could be hypothetical situations.  Check it
out at http://pbfcomics.com/

Clarks

If your going to wear boots I suggest you go with Clarks. I wear them everywhere. Comfortable, good looking, and affordable. Plus, George Harrison wore them.

Street Songs

I just bought Street Songs by Rick James on vinyl. This album will tremendously influence my life and music. Especially percussion wise. He's Rick James.....Bitch.

Nick Hornby/Songbook

This is  a pretty cool book.  A collection of 30 four to seven-page essays linking Hornby's life and history to artists and songs.  The eclectic list of groups discussed
includes: Springstein, Dylan, Santana, Ani Difranco, Led Zeppelin...
Engaging, idiosyncratic, contemplative and intimate...  Any music
lover and Hornby fan should check it out.

Nip/Tuck

F/X seems to always get it right no matter what the genre. From It's Always Sunny... to Rescue Me, each of their
series is either funny enough or twisted enough to hold the masses' interest. Unfortunately, one of its long-running gems
Nip/Tuck, has embarked on its last seasons- the "Final Cuts." Life will never be the same without weekly trips down the rabbit
hole into the lavish, gory, spontaneous lives of Dr. Christian Troy and Dr. Sean McNamara. For only a finite amount of time can we
keep living vicariously through the never-lonesome nights of the best plastic surgeon on two coasts.

Watch till the bloody end, Wednesday nights at 10/9c on F/X.

Volcom Socks

The holiday season may be over, but many of us are stuck with mall gift cards, grandparent-given holiday green to spend, or some gift so wrong it must be returned. A simple solution to all of these "problems"---how about something both functional and bizarre.
Try these Volcom puppet socks. Colorful, warm and utterly weird (in the best way)…what more could feet want? You can get the 6-pack collection online at Volcom’s website, but Urban Outfitters also seems to sell them individually too.

Spoon

I love Spoon. You should love Spoon too. If you aren’t already familiar with the
Austin-based quartet now is the perfect time to start. Their seventh album, Transference is coming out 1/19 (so close), but you can check out the first single “Written in Reverse” at NPR’s website or catch a live version at Stereogum.  They’re kind of a big deal around here, there and everywhere.

Heck, here's a video that some Japanese guys did using "Don't You Evah"... stick with it, there are dancing robots at the end...

Jesus' Son

I'm reading Jesus' Son by Dennis Johnson and I believe I've found another author to add to my favorites. His writing style is inspirational, mysterious, and at times simple but complex.. Jesus' Son is a book of short story's. I've only read two so far Car Crash While Hitchhiking and Two Men. I love them both. Anyone have a certain story from this book to suggest??? amazon.

Inglourious Basterds

The hype for Quentin Tarantino's latest work of sick and twisted genius, Inglouirous Basterds, had died down a bit since
its initial release back in August--until it came out on DVD a couple weeks ago.

Finally I got the chance to rent it and now I can partake in all those conversations concerning how anything with the QT seal
is instant gold.

Quentin is the only writer/director who could get me to sit through all those subtitles and still enjoy the film.

A trailer to refresh your memory:

Of course, if you like Basterds, you have to check out (or re-watch) his ultimate masterpiece:
